Practical Technologies Found at FOOMA JAPAN — Part 3
TSUBACO Kansai × MP Foods
FOOMA JAPAN 2026, held over four days at Tokyo Big Sight, attracted more than 110,000 visitors despite the approaching typhoon. Photography inside the venue was prohibited, which is unfortunate, because many practical solutions for food and manufacturing sites were exhibited.
Among them, at the booth of TSUBACO Kansai Co., Ltd. (Tsubakimoto Group), I found four technologies that directly contribute to on-site improvement.
With approval from President Kamimura of TSUBACO Kansai, I am sharing these insights here.
Below is the third installment.
③ Magnetic Rubber (Magnet-Attachable Rubber)
A New Approach to Preventing Foreign Material Contamination in Food Production
In food factories, fragments of rubber or resin can fall into products without being detected — a serious contamination risk.
One solution is magnetic rubber produced by MP Foods, made by mixing magnetic powder into rubber material.
If a fragment falls off, metal sensors can detect it, allowing the machine to stop and enabling operators to locate the fragment.
This provides several benefits:
Effective as a HACCP-compliant contamination control measure
Significantly improves on-site safety and peace of mind
Helps ensure food safety in households and restaurants
Reduces contamination risks across manufacturing lines
When I handled the material myself, I found it to be flexible yet magnetic — a unique combination. It has potential not only in food factories but across various manufacturing processes.
